Bible Art Journaling

Do you wish you could use art to connect with God?

Do you find yourself losing focus while reading the Bible or praying?

Do you struggle with memorizing scripture?

Does reading the Bible ever feel like a chore?

Do you wish there was a more creative way to connect with God?

Then you’re going to love Bible Art Journaling!

Bible art journaling is all about engaging your creativity into your study of scripture…about bringing your whole being into God’s presence and experiencing His words in new ways.

Images & colors bring a new sense of enjoyment and a fresh perspective to the black and white words. The more you enjoy something, the more time you’ll spend doing it and the more time you spend examining scripture the more you’ll discover of God!

Your creativity

is the key to experiencing God more deeply.

To discovering more about who He is and who you are. To imprinting the stories and truths recorded in the Bible on your heart. Stories that remind you of God’s great power and tender love. Truths that calm the storms around and within you, and give you hope.

FAQs

You do not need to be a skilled artist to benefit from Bible Art Journaling.

You can create directly in your Bible, in a journal, on a canvas, or with fabric, wood, clay, or any medium you prefer (or want to experiment with).

This is an ancient practice. Monks have been illuminating the scriptures with beautiful images since the Middle Ages to help those who couldn’t read understand the messages on the page.

Jen's Journey

In 2009 God began encouraging me to combine my art, prayer, and Bible study time. I tentatively dipped my toe in the waters by reading Praying in Color, watching Bible Art Journaling videos by Rebekah Jones, and participating in the Advent Illustrated study group by Sarah Laughed.

As I integrated art into my study & prayer time I realized that I was:

  • Looking forward to reading the Bible.

  • Spending more time in prayer.

  • Recalling the words of God more clearly.

  • Becoming more aware of God's presence & peace throughout the day.
